Saint Monica’s Prayer Group
Who Was Saint Monica?
Saint Monica was the mother of the fourth century theologian and philosopher Saint Augustine of Hippo, truly one of the greatest saints in Church history. But, Augustine wasn’t always saintly.
As a young scholar, he rejected the Christian faith and became ensnared in a scandalous life of debauchery and carnal sin.
His Christian mother Monica, however, never gave-up praying for her son’s penitence and conversion. Finally, after seventeen years of her devoted intercession, Monica’s wayward son Augustine, now thirty-three years of age, was baptized into the Christian faith.

We are a group of parish faithful who come together to pray for loved ones who may be strangers to the Catholic faith, Catholics who are struggling with belief or who have left the Church entirely.
Like St. Monica, we intercede before God for their joyful return.
Please join us by attending our Holy Hour of Petition and Hope in the nave of St. Richard Church after Mass at 9:30am on the third Thursday of every month. The ministry is devoted exclusively to intercessory prayer for our prodigal loved ones, and open to anyone who would like to participate.
We have no formal meetings.
